Grace (Duffy) Langlois, 94, of Belvidere, VT passed away on Tuesday, November 19,2024 with her children by her side.
Grace was born April 13th, 1930 and grew up in Waterville Vermont to Charles Sr and Beatrice (Quinty) Duffy. She spoke highly of her parents whom she adored and enjoyed spending time with, along with her eight siblings on the family farm. She met Thomas Langlois Sr. of Morrisville and was married on April 25, 1953.
Tom and Grace lived in Jeffersonville, Vermont, Springfield, Massachusetts, and Nashua, New Hampshire, but eventually bought the family home in 1972 in the town of Belvidere. They enjoyed each other's company and liked to garden together, go garage saling, visit their relatives, working on their home together, having meals, playing cards, scrabble, and doing puzzles, or simply just enjoy a cup of coffee together over conversation.
Grace and Tom had six children together and she was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a homemaker and raised her children with love, affection and kindness that was unparalleled. Her dedication and loyalty to her family was truly amazing.
Her working career consisted of various jobs but she is well known for having worked at the Windridge Bakery and Restaurant in Jeffersonville for many years. She enjoyed her co-workers and working with the public and was known as cheerful, friendly and hardworking.
Among her many interests were baking, gardening, canning & freezing, playing card games, country music, flower gardens, garage saling, and casino gambling. She had many loving pets throughout the years, but was especially fond of her latest two cats that she enjoyed spending many hours with. She lovingly named them "Fluffernutter" and "My Little Girl". She enjoyed giving them snacks and they would sleep on her lap in the daytime and on her pillow at night, stroking her hair with their paws, or simply watching over her as she slept.
She was fiercely independent and was relatively healthy for her advanced age. She had survived two broken hips and a heart attack, but was still mobile and lived alone, as was her wish.
Her children are grateful for the many years she was with us and for teaching us by example as a loving giving mother that put her heart and soul into everything she did. She will sorely be missed !!
Grace is survived by her three sons: Roger Langlois, and wife Kathy. Tom Langlois Jr, and wife Sue. David Langlois, three daughters Pat Longe, and husband Bob. Adina Langlois, Nancy Lafountain, her brother Roger Duffy, sister Debbie Hodgson and her husband John, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace is also predeceased by her husband Thomas Langlois Sr, daughter-in-law Stacy Langlois, her brothers Charles, Ralph, Arnold, and sisters Jean, Irene and Sandra.
Visiting hours will be on Monday, November 25, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the AW Rich Funeral Home in Fairfax, VT. A spring burial and service for both Thomas and Grace with a Celebration of their lives will be announced at a later date.
