"Loving wife, sister & friend"

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Grace Mendez, 74, of Waterbury, CT who passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Andres Mendez, with whom she shared 21 cherished years of marriage.
Grace was born on January 8, 1951 in Waterbury, CT, the beloved daughter of the late Vito Raymond and Joan Ruth (Knox) Cuccinello. She was a kind and compassionate soul, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Grace dedicated her career to caring for others, working as a CNA for NCE Homecare. Her patients received not only professional care, but genuine love and devotion. She retired just last year, leaving behind a legacy of service and warmth.
In addition to her husband Andres, she leaves to honor and cherish her memory her sister Mary Acevedo and her husband Armando of Waterbury; her brothers Anthony G. Cuccinello of Key West, FL and Bill Cuccinello of Waterbury; step-mother Rachele Cuccinello of Naugatuck; a step-sister, Antoinette Oddon of Naugatuck; a step-brother, Francis Berardi of Waterbury as well as her cherished grandchildren, a great-grandson, brothers- and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, cousins, an aunt, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Craig Monge and two step-sisters, Jennifer and Anna Berardi.

Grace will be remembered always for her warmth, generosity, and strength.

Arrangements: All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 Benson Road, Middlebury has been entrusted with Grace's services.
