Grace LaVerne, "Mona" Mitchan, 93, of Cameron, died peacefully Sunday, February 23, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Monica's Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, from 6-7:00 pm with a Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral chapel.
Mrs. Mitchan was born December 13, 1931, in the Tracy Community of Milam County to William Kenneth and Edna (Rinn) Leonard. She married Eugene Albert "Po'Papa" Mitchan on April 29, 1950. She had worked at the Cameron Dress Factory; then as a bookkeeper for her husband and for many years with a childcare business at her home. She was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Eugene Albert "Bubbie" Mitchan, Jr., son-in-law, Larry Gene Peschel and a grandson, Montana Jordan Mitchan. She leaves behind to cherish her memory:
