Lucas Funeral Home - KellerGrace Obeng- Appau was born in Koforidua, Eastern Region, Ghana on March 15, 1948 to Seth Emmanuel Apreku and Comfort Yeboah Apreku who where lifetime cocoa farmers. She passed away on September 15. 2025. She was the seventh child of twelve siblings. Grace graduated from the Adonten High School at Aburi, Ghana and proceeded to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Midwifery Training College. Grace graduated from college in 1974.
Grace Obeng-Appau got married in December to Rev. Dr. Sam Obeng-Appau who was then working at the Housing and Planning Research Department, Facility of Architecture, University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. To this union God blessed them with five children plus one adopted child: Grace, Mercy, Samuel Jr. Panyin, Kakra and Dr. Randy-Dr. Gaydley. They presently have ten grandchildren: Anita, Rachel, Cayce, Charlotte, John, Jesse, Aliena, Stephan, Analise, Camiel-Christina and Gabriella.
She worked at the Komfo Anokye hospital and the Tema General Hospital as a midwife and rose to the level of Midwifery Sister (Superintendent) for twenty years.
She loved traveling and gardening, but her greatest passion in life was helping people and supporting her husband in ministry – teaching songs and hymns and conducting the church choir. Grace was a hilarious story teller, an ardent cook, exceptionally generous and gracious, a prayer warrior and a skillful textile designer.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Rev. Dr. Sam Obeng-Appau of 51 years, sons Randy and Samuel Jr., daughters Mercy, Panyin and Kakra Dr. Gaydley; she had one sister Yaa, two brothers David and Yaasi and a host of cousins, friends and coworkers.
