Grace Poole Obituary

Life's Journey of Grace Elaine Fletcher-Poole
Grace E. Fletche-Poole was the third of six children born to the late Donald Frank Fletcher and Gladys Elder Greene-Fletcher on June 12, 1937. Growing up in the small town called New Church, Virginia, she lived a quiet life enjoying church, work, and home. God called her home on Sunday, March 16, 2025 and peacefully she went.
Grace was baptized at an early age. She received her religious foundation of faith while attending Tabernacle Baptist Church in Horntown, Virginia under the leadership of Reverend Gilchrist. She maintained her membership until the Lord called her home.
Grace received her education through the Accomack County Public School System.
She married the late Otis H. Poole; a marriage which lasted for sixty-two (62) years. Departed by death. To this union, there were no children born.
Grace's work history included several poultry plants - Buddy Boy's in Snow Hill, Maryland, Golden Pride in Stockton, Maryland and Berlin Poultry Plant in Berlin, Maryland. While on a trip to Memphis, Tennessee, visiting the Elvis Presley Estate, Grace was persuaded to retire from the poultry plant at age sixty-two (62). Then she decided to join her husband working at the Rest Area at the Maryland/Virginia Line as cleaning attendant.
Grace loved to shop, dress, and ride. Places that she visited included Orlando, Florida, Sight and Sound in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Atlanta, Georgia, Wilmington, Delaware and Farmville, Virginia. She enjoyed the ride to Pocomoke, going to Ocean City for popcorn and going to the drive-in-movies. She also enjoyed reading the Bible. Her favorite songs were "Farther Along", "We Will Know All About It" and "We Will Understand It Better By and By."
After the death of her husband, Grace's time was spent watching Jimmy Swaggert's gospel program and doing word search puzzles. She cherished telephone calls from a young lady, Cassandra Bevins, giving her advice on life and receiving weekly calls from her cousin Robert Stevenson, sharing fun and laughter. She enjoyed talking with young people to see where their minds were. She loved flowers, jewelry, clothes and talking about the love of God and what he had done for her. Mom loved bright colors.
Grace was preceded in death by: Otis H. Poole, husband; Juanita Holden, sister, Donald Frank, father; Gladys E. Fletcher, mother; George Fletcher, brother and Johnnie Holden, Jr., nephew.
Those left to cherish her memories: daughter, Brenda T. (Sylvester) Dale of Snow Hill, Maryland; granddaughter, Tonia (Antonio) Dale Johnson of Eden, Maryland/ Virginia, Beach, Virginia; grandson, Josiah Johnson of Eden, Maryland; twins, grandson, Isaiah and granddaughter, Aiyana Johnson; sister, Almeta Smith of New Church, Virginia; brothers, Donald F.
