GRACIE B. ALEXANDER, 90, longtime resident of Brookshire passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Houston Methodist West.

Mrs. Alexander was born August 22, 1935, in Newton County, Texas. The oldest daughter of Roy and Palma (Fowler) Twine.

She graduated from Jamestown High School in Jamestown, TX. She continued her education at Prairie View A&M University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in 1957.

She began her working career in the Fiscal Office at Prairie View A&M University. She worked there for 3 years before becoming an educator at Ralph J. Bunch Junior High School in the Royal Independent School District where all her students called her Ms. Twine and still to this day those same students refer to her as Ms. Twine. She moved into the corporate world and worked for Exxon Mobil for 26 years before she retired in 1994.

She met her husband, Roosevelt Alexander at a Prairie View A&M University basketball game and they have been watching sports ever since. They married on December 22, 1960. Two daughters were born into this union: Griselda Alexander and Cassandra Alexander.

Gracie was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church for many years. She had previously served as secretary and vice-president of Mission, treasurer of the benevolent committee, member of the choir for many years, and she was also a member of the Women's Sunday School Class. Before and after retiring from Exxon, she served as clerk at the election polls. Only after retiring did she serve as voting judge for the City of Brookshire and the Royal Independent School District for several years. She also held different positions in the local chapter of the Brookshire-Pattison AARP. She greatly enjoyed quilting (piecing quilts) as a hobby. She was a member of Helping Hands, which made small quilts for nursing homes or for those in need.

She leaves behind her husband of 64 years Roosevelt Alexander; two sisters Etta Davis of Houston, TX and Mattie Wilson of Alameda, CA; 3 daughters: Griselda Alexander of Katy, TX, Cassandra Alexander of Georgetown, TX and Deshunda Gibbs of Houston, TX; Grandchildren: Ashley Alexander, Alexandra Brown (Gregory), Mekesha Gibbs, Curtis Gibbs (Judith). Great Grandchildren: Greigh, Matthew, Daniel and David; nieces and nephews and many other dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Palma Twine, four brothers, one sister and one grandson.
