Gracie Rexrode Obituary
Born September 29, 1941 at Hico, WV, she was a daughter of the late Harry Warden Metheney and Mildred Edith Perry Metheney.
She was a member of Shuck Memorial Baptist Church in Lewisburg and was a retired school teacher.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Verna Maurer and a brother, Richard Andrew Metheney.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, William Lee Rexrode; children, Rebecca Lee Aken (Jeremiah) and Mark Lee Rexrode (Amy); two grandchildren, Bethany and Eden; sisters, Betty Sorrell (Gary) and Linda Leake (Joe); two brothers, Harry W. Metheney, Jr. (Kathy) and Harlan Leroy Metheney (Joy); a sister-in-law, Judy Metheney and special niece, Debbie Hanson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Shuck Memorial Baptist Church, Lewisburg, with Rev. Ron Miller and Rev. Jonathan Turner officiating. Entombment will follow at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum at Crawley, WV.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy be made to the Shuck Memorial Baptist Deacon Assistance Fund, 133 Burdette Lane, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Bill, the short sentence in Gracie's obituary "a retired teacher" does not do justice to her contributions to the many students at Eastern Greenbrier. I subbed there for English teachers the year before she retired that October and turned her classes over to me. Please know that she was respected by her staff and her students. Her gentle touch helped a number students that will never have the opportunity to tell you how much she meant to them. We are sorry for your family's loss.

Mr. Rexrode,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know God comforts when half of you passes first. He has been true to His promises since my Jim died on 2009. I hope you know the same God who welcomes you to lean on His breast as you read His
promises to you. You and your precious wife made a big difference at Rupert School and in my life and education. Love
