Obituary
Graciela Sanchez, 77, formerly of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2023 after a brief illness.
Born October 25, 1945, in Juarez, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Isidro and Reyes (Contreras) Hermosillo. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Theresa Sanchez.
On May 5, 1970, Graciela married the love of her life, Gabino Sanchez. He survives her. To their union, they were blessed with two sons, Leonardo (Michelle) Sanchez of South Bend and Alejandro (Sara) Sanchez of Laurel, MD. Also left to cherish her memory are: her goddaughter, Esenia (Ralph) Mendez of Avondale, AZ; eight grandchildren, Teo, Max, Molly, Sophia and Lillian Sanchez and A.J., Elena and Joshua Mendez; brother, Joe (Alicia) Hermosillo of Montebello, CA; two sisters-in-law, Rosa (the late, Ernesto) Barron of El Paso, TX and Graciela (the late, Sergio) Sanchez of Daly City, CA; and ten special nieces and nephews.
A faithful and loving servant of the Lord, she carried a special devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. She was also a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. While she was a parish secretary at St. John Vianney in Goodyear, Arizona, she fed the poor and cared for the sick. She lived her life guided with a servant's heart. She enjoyed cooking, especially making her favorite Mexican dishes. She was a gift on this earth and she will be dearly missed by many.
Her family would like to send a special thank you to the healthcare staff at St. Paul's Senior Community. They are a blessing.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for her on Friday, October 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at St. Paul's Senior Community with Fr. Joseph Corpora, C.S.C. and Fr. Thomas Zurcher, C.S.C., officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Andre House, 213 S. 11th St., Phoenix, AZ 85007.
