Funeral services for Mr. Grady Wayne Tipps, 92, of Brachfield, will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Jason Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, April 30, at the funeral home.
Mr. Tipps passed from this life on April 28, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 17, 1931, on the family homeplace in Brachfield to the late Aubrey Oscar and Lillian (Harrington) Tipps. Wayne graduated from Mt. Enterprise High School and then served his country stateside in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived most all of his life in Rusk County where he was a rancher and cattleman. Mr. Tipps loved being on the land working cows and baling hay. His knowledge and wisdom of the ranching business was well known and he was called upon many times by local veterinarians for advice. He was also one of the best mechanics for square balers around. Wayne was an avid 42 player and played many a round with Dick York. Mr. Tipps was also a long-time member of the Patrick Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Dale Tipps, and Lavelle Tipps and wife Clara.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Jan Tipps, son Toby Tipps and wife Melanie, brother Billy Don Tipps and wife Nora Ann, sister-in-law Patsy Tipps, all of Brachfield, sister-in-law Kay Yates and husband Dewayne of Henderson, grandchildren Brad Tipps and wife Lacie and their children Kory and Kasen, Callie Presley and husband Louis and their children Braylie and Tallyn, Brittany Henry and husband Nick and their little boy on the way, Jordan Tipps, and Clayton Tipps, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Gary Griffin, Kenneth Locke, Nick Henry, Carl Orr, Robert Harris, and Wayne Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Vestal, Billy Alexander, Jim Dudley, Craig Cooley, Raymond Quintero, and Blaine Morris.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Feed the Children at PO Box 272186, Oklahoma City, OK 73137-9909.
