Grady Giles Wilson, 83, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away on April 18, 2024.
Grady was born on September 29, 1940, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to William Henry Wilson, Sr. and Mary Vallie Poole Wilson. He graduated from Spencer High School in Spencer, North Carolina, in 1958, and in 1962, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Business from Catawba College in Salisbury. Throughout his education, Grady was an avid athlete, lettering in baseball, football, and basketball at Spencer High and in baseball at Catawba.
After college, Grady entered the United States Air Force. He attended Officer Training School, and upon completion, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He also attended the Air Force Navigator Training School in Waco, Texas. When he graduated, Grady was assigned the position of Navigator on a KC-135 Aerial Refueling Tanker crew in the Strategic Air Command. During his time in the Air Force, he received the Air Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Vietnamese Service Medal. Grady was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain in May 1968.
Following his discharge, Grady began a 35-year career in the real estate financing and mortgage industry. He held positions in Waco and Austin before settling in the Dallas area, where he met his future wife, Nancy Arnold. The two were introduced by mutual acquaintances and married in 1996.
Grady continued working until his retirement from J.P. Morgan Chase Bank in March 2010. He cherished the additional time he was able to spend with Nancy until her passing in 2017. He also loved being able to focus on his hobbies: collecting stamps and baseball cards and watching his North Carolina Tar Heels and Baylor Bears play football and basketball.
Grady was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; his siblings Lawrence Fredrick Wilson, Vera Nadine Bates, William Henry Wilson, Jr., and Paul Thornton Wilson; and his faithful and beloved Boxer, Prince. He is survived by his daughters Robin Lynne Wilson of Waco, Texas, and Lesley Kay Mullen (husband Brad) of Lorena, Texas; two grandchildren, Madison and Connor Mullen; several nieces and nephews; and his precious pets, Sampson and Cassie.
Grady requested a private interment. If you wish to express sympathy, please consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
