Ralph Gregory "Greg" Campbell, 87, of Meredosia, IL died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester.
He was born April 3, 1937, in Time, the son of Ralph and Charlotte (Connell) Campbell. He married Wanda Cumby on July 28, 1956, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2018.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters. Curt (Cheryl) Campbell and Mark (Lynelle) Campbell, both of Meredosia, Stephanie Goebel of Springfield, Jennifer Humes of Mt. Sterling, and Elizabeth (Gary) Broyles of Jacksonville. Ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda, his parents; five brothers, Andrew, Frank, Cecil, Raymond and Art; and a granddaughter, Nichole Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was a 1955 graduate of Bluffs High School. He worked in a lumberyard and a hardware Store in New Lenox, IL, before moving to Meredosia and became a grocer for several years. He helped to form the Meredosia Rescue Squad in 1969 following a tragic accident close to Meredosia. He started Campbell Builders in 1977 doing carpentry work and remodeling in the local area. He retired in 2015. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Winchester.
A Graveside service for Greg and Wanda will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Hillcrest Cemetery, south of Bluffs. The family will meet friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia. Memorials are suggested to the Meredosia-Bluffs Volunteer Rescue Squad.
