William Gregory Crabtree, known to many as Greg (or affectionately as "Gui-Bo"), passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born on December 20, 1951, in Marlinton, West Virginia, Greg was the son of the late Margaret Crabtree-Pizzola and William Vickers Crabtree. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy Crabtree-Ryan and Debbie Crabtree-Runkle.
Greg dedicated over 20 years of his life working as a chemist, a career that reflected his intellect and commitment to his craft.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marla Crabtree; his two sons, Cass Crabtree (Jonna) and Clayton Crabtree; and his granddaughters, Savannah and Jocelyn Crabtree, who brought him immense joy. Greg also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Greg found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished sitting on his front porch with his wife, Marla, each evening during "happy hour," where they would share stories and laughter. Often, his best friend and next-door neighbor, Ronnie, would join them, turning those evenings into treasured moments of friendship and joy. Greg also looked forward to hosting the family's annual Thanksgiving cook-off, a tradition held at his house each year that brought everyone together in friendly competition and gratitude.
Greg's legacy is one of dedication to his family, cherished traditions, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
Friends and family will be received Friday, January 31, 2025 from 3 PM - 5 PM at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave., Wheeling (304-277-2722). A concluding prayer will begin at 5 PM.
