Greg Foreman Obituary

Greg Foreman was born in Jesup, Georgia on May 8, 1954, to Fordy and Doris Foreman of Sulphur, Louisiana. Marsha Foreman Manard and Ben and wife Latrelle loved their baby brother Greg dearly. From the tobacco fields of Georgia to the jungles of Thailand, Greg kept moving. From Gettysburg to Bakersfield, Greggy Crocker burnt rods, told stories, and fed people's souls. Greg learned early that family did not always mean blood. The first was Joe, Dean, Neal, and a spider monkey. Greg then showed skill in welding at Sulphur High School, and had a wayward soul that led him to bareback and bull riding with Mike Granger. Greg met the love of his life Deanna Butler after returning from Utapao, Thailand, where he proudly served in the USAF Strategic Air Command 307th MMS, loading munitions on B-52 Stratofortresses. Greg and Deanna then bought a little bumper pull and made another family. He would quip "ain't nothin finer than a 798 pipeliner" with that wrinkle nosed grin. When Greg was home cooking and Marshall Tucker Band was spinning in the background, you bet two boys were squeezing in between as they danced. After forty-six short years of marriage with Deanna he does not leave behind, but leaves to the world, his two sons: Lee Taylor Foreman, his wife Emily; and Jayce Foreman. Greg had turned quickly to a breakfast-making, hook-baiting pawpaw to his five grandsons: Eli, Ayden, Gavin, Dylan, and Payton. His vicious three-pound guard dog Jewel was hand-fed on a daily basis and would not let his lap stay empty for long. Myself and many will miss the special deliveries of fresh vegetables from his garden, pies, cakes, breads, and amazing dishes that he'd get a wild hair to try or had perfected. Your recipes, songs, and stories will continue to connect us.
Greg passed away peacefully November 4, 2023 Year of Our Lord surrounded by family, and we will be laying his earthly body to rest Thursday, November 16 at Mimosa Pines in Carlyss. Services will commence at 11 o'clock and take place at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana. A Masonic rites ceremony will be held prior to the service. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and resume Thursday at 8 a.m. leading up to the service. Special thanks to the families of the Butlers, Taylors, Thomases, Mark Foreman, Shane Foreman, Preston Richard, and David Fergueson. We watched that welding rig leave so many times; we didn't know you were getting us ready, because until we see you again, you're just on another job. Love you, Dad.
