Gregg Lewis Sims, 73, passed away, Friday, October 10, 2025 at his home in Jeffersonville. He was born March 26, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN the son of Joseph and Ruth Goss Sims. He was owner and operator along with his wife of Dura Group Roofing Company in Jeffersonville, IN. Gregg Sims lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and unwavering dedication to serving others. He deeply loved the Word of God and took great joy in studying and teaching it. As an anointed pastor, he poured his heart into ministry and spent a good portion of his life pastoring congregations at Trinity Assembly of God in Corydon, Indiana, and congregations in Georgetown, Indiana, and Terre Haute, Indiana. His calling was more than a role-it was a true expression of his love for God and people. He carried this same love of people as he has served customers in his Roofing Company for several decades. Gregg had a deep love for his wife, his children, grandchildren, and family, taking great joy at every opportunity to pour into their lives. He was known for his warm smile, sense of humor, and the way he made others feel seen and valued. Talented and passionate, he played the saxophone with passion, effortlessly, often sharing his talent in worship. Athletic and enthusiastic about sports, he carried a spirited energy that inspired friendly competition and camaraderie on church Softball teams. Gregg's heart was especially tender toward those in need. He never hesitated to lend a hand, offer prayer, or quietly support someone who was struggling. His life was a testament to generosity, humility, and living out the love of Christ in everyday moments. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents,stepson, Nick Casey and brother Tyrone Sims. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Hastings Sims; daughters, Tanyika Sims (Rodney Cecil) of Corydon, IN, Tawana Siler (Greg), of Knightstown, IN, Talitha Lynch (Todd) of Libertyville, IL; step daughters, Danielle Wells (Jon), Jasmin Lyons (Kyle) and stepson, Ian Casey (Nicole) all of Jeffersonville, IN.; brother, Melvin Sims (Vickie) of Indianapolis, IN, sister Rhea Dawn McCarney of Havre de Grace, Maryland and sister-in-law Melanie Sims of Seymour, TN; grandchildren, Tia Huffman (Ajay), Tate Watson (Nikki), Trey Watson (Madison), Nate Cecil (Jennifer), Karson Cecil, Talia, Grant, Grahm, Grady, Tirzah Mae and Ruthie Siler, Hayden, Hunter, Reese, and Rayne Lynch, Mia and Ben Lyons, Sofia Wells and Dylan Casey; great grandchildren, Taiden, Amelia and Augustus Huffman, Aadi, Tate, and Hazel Watson, Blake and Hayden Cecil and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 5 PM Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN. Pastor Charles Kerberg will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 PM until the service at 5 PM on Thursday at the same location.
