Gregorio E. Flores Nov 26, 1941 - Sep 6, 2025 Gregorio E. Flores, a dedicated teacher and principal, beloved family patriarch, and diligent gardener, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at his home in Mount Prospect, Illinois, at the age of 83. Born in Cavinti, Laguna, Philippines on November 26, 1941, Gregorio spent the majority of his life devoted to the education and well-being of his community. He earned a Masters degree in Education in the Philippines and thereafter served with distinction as a teacher before his eventual promotion to the role of Principal at Lumot High School. While serving the youth of his home town, Gregorio also cultivated a passion for farming and maintained a farm on the side where he grew rice, coconuts, and oranges. His passion followed him after immigrating to the Chicago area where he settled in suburb of Mount Prospect, where he tirelessly maintained a garden until the bunnies pestered it. He dedicated most of his life caring for his wife while working full time and managing the home. He learned to cook and became good at it. He tirelessly cooked meals for his wife and family and always making sure to send his children and grandchildren home with full stomachs. His life was graced by the love of his late wife Ledda Flores, née Morales, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage until her passing. Gregorio was predeceased by his mother Antonina, father Pedro, and brothers German and Ignacio. He will be fondly remembered by his children: Lynnelle and her husband Ron Heiman, Gardelle and his wife Ema, Greggy and his wife Genebee, and Gandhi. His legacy includes his cherished grandchildren Gerard, Emilie, Galvin, Giselle, Gabriel, and Genelynn who brought him immeasurable happiness. He was also a loving and generous uncle to Oresto (Leony), Arnel, Nenita, Rodalina, Rick, Rhoda (Boyet), Eugene, Raquel (Junior), Rolino, Ruel (Mila), Emma (Jerwin) and Cesar. He was a true example of perseverance through hardship and trials. He believed in God and he placed his trust fully in Jesus Christ. Gregorio E. Flores will be profoundly missed, yet his teachings, the love he shared, and the gardens he tended will continue to grow and flourish in the lives of those he touched. His memory will be held in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless students he inspired throughout his distinguished career in education. For any who wish to pay their respects, a visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 8:00PM with Memorial Service at 6 pm on Friday, September 12th, 2025, at Matz Mt. Prospect Funeral Chapel, 410 E Rand Rd, Mount Prospect, Illinois, 60056. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at St Alphonsus Liguori Church, 411 N Wheeling Rd, Prospect Heights, IL 60070.
