GREGORY BARKER Obituary
Gregory Barker was born on October 6, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Shirley Maurice Cannon and Seola Barker. He pursued his education in the Indianapolis Public School System and in Woodland Hills, California, before graduating from Arsenal Technical High School. From an early age, Greg embraced his faith at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church.
Greg dedicated thirty-five years to the automotive industry, contributing his skills and expertise to companies such as Allison Transmission, Wallace Expanding, The Chrysler Corporation, and most recently, Tesla Gigafactory Automotive. His commitment and proficiency were highly esteemed by colleagues and supervisors alike.
Known for his infectious sense of humor, Greg had a unique ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. His work ethic was unparalleled, earning him admiration and respect from peers and supervisors. Beyond his professional life, Greg found immense joy in fishing, a pastime that brought him peace and tranquility. He also enjoyed basketball, golf, chess, and football, and in recent years, he developed a passion for stock trading.
Greg's memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His zest for life and diverse interests will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Gregory Barker departed this life on September 10, 2024, at the age of sixty-seven years. He was preceded in death by his father, Shirley Maurice Cannon; his brothers, Keith and Kevin Cannon; and his beloved aunt and uncle, William and Thomasine Baker.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Seola Barker; his children, Alisha Barker and Gabrielle Barker; his siblings, Derrick Cannon, Phyliss Jordan (Ezra), Gwendolyn Barker, Sharon Chambliss (Jackie), and Deborah Bateman; his grandchildren, Tai-Anthony Toliver, Shod Fresco, Khold Wilson, and Kingzton Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
