Gregory Alex Bisdorf, of Hamilton, Ohio, lovingly known to many as "Uncle Greg", passed away unexpectedly on May 25, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was 41.
Greg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised in Hamilton until his family relocated to
Marion, Indiana. It was there that he grew into his quiet confidence and strong work ethic-honed through years of wrestling, soccer, and serving as a football field goal kicker. Eventually, he returned to Hamilton, where he made his greatest impact.
Greg was the kind of person who left a lasting mark-on his city, his friends, and anyone lucky enough to cross paths with him. From his jobs at Kaivac and Sonitrol to his everyday presence around town, Greg brought sincerity and warmth to every space he entered.
He was the proud son of Mark and Kathleen (Lykins) Bisdorf, the devoted brother of Matthew (Adrianne Mughmaw) and Kyle (Kelsay Scott) Bisdorf, and the loving grandson to Jan Lykins. He was also a cherished uncle to three nieces and three nephews, who adored their "fun, crazy Uncle Greggy." Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Lee Bisdorf, Warren Bisdorf, and Albert Lykins.
Titles like son, brother, and uncle only scratch the surface. Greg was a neighborhood legend, a tireless volunteer, a champion of community art and music, and a walking welcome mat for Hamilton. If you spent any time in Lindenwald, you knew him. And, if you didn't, someone nearby surely had a story about him.
Greg served as Board Chair of 17STRONG-Hamilton and was named their 2023 Volunteer of the Year--though no title could capture the full scope of his heart. He showed up for people, plain and simple. Whether he was pulling weeds before an event, bringing a flower kit to your doorstep, or painting a patio on a hot summer day just because, Greg's kindness never had a clock.
He had a laugh that traveled and a grin you could spot across a crowded room. He had a gift for making people feel seen, whether you knew him well or just bumped into him around town. He was Hamilton's heartbeat and Lindenwald's unofficial mayor. His absence leaves a silence in spaces that were always filled with his energy.
Though quiet as a kid--"When Greg talks, people listen," family would joke--he grew into someone whose presence was magnetic. He was the kind of friend who stayed. He celebrated your wins, helped you move, supported your campaign, and probably made you laugh while doing it.
Greg believed in Hamilton and its people. And now, in losing him, the whole town feels just a little dimmer. But we carry forward what he showed us: how to live with heart, how to serve without asking, how to love without conditions. One motto that's already taken hold: Be like Greg.
