Gregory Black Obituary
He was born on August 5, 1956 in Rolla, MO to the late James Ezra Black and Della Christine (Havens) Black. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Joshua Turnbaugh; and one sister, Brenda Zoellner.
Greg served in the U.S. Navy. When he returned home, he followed his father's footsteps and joined the Laborers Local 840 Union, where he worked until he retired.
Woodworking was a hobby that Greg greatly enjoyed. Being outdoors gave him great joy, especially if he was fishing, canoeing, or camping.
Greg will be sadly missed by his surviving family which includes: one son, Joe Turnbaugh of Republic, MO; a daughter, Sammy Arnold and husband, Bradley, of St. James, MO; one brother, Randy Black and wife, Jewel, of Victoria, Texas; three sisters, Sharon Jackson of St. James, MO, Linda Gray and husband, Steve of St. James. MO, and Marcia Mayo and husband, Randy of Rolla, MO; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial gathering for Greg Black will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
Memorial contributions in memory of Greg are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
