It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Gregory Allen Blackwood, a beloved man, who left our sides on August 9, 2025. Born on October 20, 1960, Gregory spent his 64 years on earth spreading joy and kindness everywhere he went.
Gregory leaves behind his loving wife, Pamela Dunn Blackwood, their cherished daughters, Dessa Blackwood(Garrett Welfley), Laccie Peet (Adam Peet), Jaimee Harpster(Gina Bertelli) and Ann Harpster. Along side his grandchildren Hailey Smith(Micheal McNeal), Kailey, Keira, Hunter, and Skarlett, Amara, Christopher, Preston and Bailey and brothers Jeff (Janice) Blackwood, Chuck Blackwood. He leaves an abundance of dear friends and family members who loved him deeply. His memory will also be carried forward by his faithful dog, Fergus, who was often found by his side, and his other dogs Athena, Maggie, and Weena.
Gregory was a man of simple pleasures; the kindest man you would ever meet, he would do anything for anyone, especially his children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite pastimes included sitting in his chair with Fergus, watching his favorite TV shows, which included Supernatural, NCIS, and the news. His favorite movie is Star Trek and he had the honour of meeting the star William Shatner! Moreover, he was a passionate fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. He was also an exceptional employee at the Marie’s Resteraunt and worked there 49 years!
Gregory had an unparalleled love for food, with pizza, fries, burgers, steak, and candy ranking top on his list. Nothing made him happier than enjoying these with a cold bottle of Coke. He also held a deep fondness for music, with his favorite tunes being from Elton John.
His generous spirit, humorous nature, and kind heart are an enduring legacy to his loved ones. He taught them that kindness is a priceless trait, to treasure their pets as family, and to always be there for their children. His legacy is a rich tapestry of love, laughter, funny jokes, heartwarming songs and, of course, pizza.
Gregory Blackwood will be sorely missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, dogs, and every life that he touched with his compassion and warmth. His departure leaves a void that may never be filled. However, we can take solace in the fact that his teachings and the memories we made with him will ring in our hearts forever.
Gregory was preceded in death by his brother Steve.
