Gregory "Greg" Grover

Gregory ("Greg") Grover, age 41, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on November 13, 2024, after a brief illness. Greg was known for his kindness, generosity, extraordinary culinary skills, and exceptional mentorship. Greg had a brilliant mind-someone who could synthesize complex information into meaningful action. His life's work was to develop biomedical and biotechnological products that could help people with congenital cardiac disease.
Greg was born and raised in Chardon, Ohio. After graduating from Chardon High School in 2001, he attended and graduated from Gettysburg College in 2006. He attended UCLA and earned his PhD in Chemistry in 2011, after which he completed his post-doctoral training at UC San Diego in cardiac tissue bioengineering in 2013. He started his first job at Advanced Biologics before taking a position as a senior scientist at Biologica Technologies. In 2017, Greg was hired as the Director of Research Development at Contraline, Inc. and was subsequently promoted to Chief Technology Officer before pursuing his entrepreneurial dreams as the CEO and Co-Founder of Karios Technologies, Inc., in 2021.
In 2019, Greg met his wife Allison ("Allie") in Charlottesville, Virginia. Greg and Allie had a daughter, Isabel ("Izzy") in 2022 and they made their home together, first in Houston, Texas and then in Durham, North Carolina. Greg was a fierce lover and defender of all animals throughout his life, especially his two dogs Kivu and Remy.
Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Helen Weis and his aunt Genevieve Martin. He is survived by his wife, Allie Martin; his daughter, Izzy Grover; his mother, Cindy Grover, and his mother's life partner, Richard Edwards; his brother Jeff (Katelyn) Grover; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Clements Funeral Service on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA): SPCA Wake, 200 Petfinder Lane Raleigh, NC 27603, an organization Greg was passionate about.
