Gregory R. James Sr.

Greg James, age 89, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
Greg was born on September 27, 1934 to Harvey and Mary James in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School and moved to Chicago in 1955 where he met the love of his life, Bernadette. They married on June 30, 1956, in Chicago where they raised their three children before moving to Lockport, Illinois.
Greg is survived by three loving children: Kathy (Roger) Westlund, Gregory (Nichol) James, Jr., and John (Teri) James. Gregory loved his grandchildren: Chelsea (Harry), Greg "Trey" III, Joseph M., Sam (Cassie) and John A. He was the proud great grandfather of Eva and James O. and Bruce J. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, his much loved caregiver, Terry Perkins, and many friends in Illinois and Indiana.
Greg was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette, his parents, Mary, nee Glinecki, and Harvey James, his sisters, and his beloved grandson, Joseph R. James.
Greg lived an adventurous life. He owned and flew airplanes, collected antique cars, and restored too many farm tractors to count. He travelled all over the world, including many big game hunting trips. One of his favorite places was his farm in Culver, Indiana.
Services are to be announced at a later date in the Spring of 2024.
In the future Greg will be laid to rest at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Cemetery in Plainfield, Illinois.
