Gregory H. Kirk, 78, passed away February 17, 2023, with his loving family at his side. Greg was born on July 27, 1944, in Glen Ridge, NJ. He grew up in Bloomfield, NJ and always held fond memories of his time there. He attended Bloomfield High School, where he played basketball, baseball, football, and made lifelong friends. He graduated in 1962. Greg moved to Manasquan, where he became a proud member of Manasquan Fire Co. #2 and the Manasquan "AH" Club, again making lifelong friends that he enjoyed spending time with.
Greg started his career as a plumber's apprentice in 1965, becoming a Master Plumber and having his own business in the 70's. In the 1980's he decided to put down the wrench and became an Inspector with the State of NJ. Greg held various licenses including Plumbing Subcode, Fire Subcode, Building Subcode and Construction Official. Much of his career was spent with the Township of Wall as well as many other shore communities, including Belmar and Spring Lake. His knowledge in the field gained him appointments to the Governor's Advisory Peer Review Board, Committee for Rehabilitation, and the Monmouth County Construction Board of Appeals. He retired in 2005, but, after Hurricane Sandy he came out of retirement in order to assist with inspections during the rebuilding of the Jersey Shore that he loved so much. Greg's retirement led him to spend winters in Fort Myers, FL as he refused to see snow anymore. This allowed him to have 12 months a year for his passion of golf and to make many new Floridian friends. But NJ was his home, where he spent time with his Belmar Happy Hour friends, CJ's Sunday football crew, extended Lorusso Family and allowed him to remain close to the family he loved so much.
Greg was predeceased by his parents, George L. and Helen E. Kirk, and his brothers, David and Richard Kirk. Greg is survived by his forever loving wife Robbin aka Babe #1, his daughter Tammy, her husband Ralph and his grandchildren Jacqueline and Christopher Boud of Point Pleasant. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, Bonnie, Scott and Douglas Kirk. Greg also leaves behind his Necklen Family, Richard Sr. and Patricia, Richard Jr. and Tracy, Amy and David Spera, nieces and nephew, Emily, Madison, Mikayla and Max. Greg was loved by so many, his life was spent making lifelong friends and he did it so well.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm, Monday March 6, 2023, at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ, with a prayer service to begin at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Greg's love for his four-legged children, the ones he is playing with again Licorish, Magic, Kit, Kaboodles and Gus and those now missing him Tucker and Trixie, please make donations to the Associated Humane Societies, PO Box 43, Forked River, NJ 08731.
