Gregory Kleckner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. - West York on Mar. 12, 2026.
Greg Kleckner passed away suddenly at York Hospital on March 9, 2026 at the age of 80. He was the son of Susan and Frank Kleckner.

Greg graduated from York High in 1964 and enjoyed a career in precision metal stamping. He was a tool & die maker at GTE Sylvania, transitioned to close tolerance Wire EDM programming at Burndy, and progressed to designing intricate die components as a contractor at Dupont Connector - all without a formal Engineering degree.

Off hours he was into cars – fabricating race car parts; autocrossing his infamous "Nadar's Nightmare" mid-engined Corvair; drag racing; enjoying sprint cars at The Grove; working on his GTO, Firenza and TransAm; even shuttling BMWs from the Baltimore port back to Al Diehl's dealership.

After a serious stroke and early retirement Greg enjoyed his garden and kept his mind sharp with NY Times crosswords.

Greg was pre-deceased by his long-time companion Donna Gladfelter and his sister Sylvia Goodling. He is survived by sister Susan Spittle (husband John), sister Carol Zinn and niece Angela Zinn.

The family is grateful to Greg's friends and kind neighbors who looked in on him over the years. He truly appreciated them. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff at York Hospital's Surgical ICU for Greg's emergency care.

John W. Keffer Funeral Home will be handling arrangements. Please view the website at www.kefferfh.com to share memories. A private family gathering of remembrance will be held.
