John Tulenko

John Tulenko, 91, entered into life on Thursday February 19th, 2026 at Country Meadows in Shiloh. He was the husband of Helen Mary (Ziegmont) Tulenko for 69 years.

A viewing will be held on Saturday February 28th from 10am to 11am at St. Rose of Lima Church 950 West Market St, 1 hour before the Mass of Christian Burial that will begin at 11 am with Rev. Father Celestine Nwakwuo, OP as celebrant. Full military rites will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard, at the church, following the mass. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., West York, is assisting with the arrangements.

John Tulenko was born April 1, 1934 in William Penn, PA, the son of the late John and Mary (Bulischak) Tulenko. He was a graduate of West Mahanoy Township High School in Shenandoah Heights, PA and Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster, PA where he studied electronics. He served in the US Army and was employed and retired from International Business Machines (IBM) corporation after 33 years. John and Helen moved to York, PA in 1959. John was a fourth-degree night in the Knights of Columbus council 10870 and was an active member of the Saint Rose Of Lima, Roman Catholic Church, York Pa. He was also a member of the White Rose Polka Dancers Association.

John was a very kind and generous person and enjoyed helping others. He loved spending time with family. He was skilled in carpentry, masonry, and electrical work. He and his wife Helen were avid polka dancers, and were very active members in their church.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by an uncle, Michael Rohal in 1977 and his sister Mary Lesko in 2022.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (Ziegmont) Tulenko; his sister Helen Weachock; sister-in-law Natalie Gaburick (John); many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and extended loving family and friends.
