It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gregory M. Kurzynski, 76, of Lakewood, Wisconsin (previously of Lake Villa, Illinois), he passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Greg was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 16,1949, son of the late George and Gloria (Michalczyk) Kurzynski. He spent most of his childhood growing up in Chicago, Illinois. After he graduated high school, he served his country in the United States Army and was later employed by United Airlines at O’Hare International Airport. He went on to marry his beautiful bride Edith on April 28,1977. In the early 80’s, Greg, Edie and daughters moved to Lake Villa, Illinois. Greg would commute from Lake Villa, Illinois to O’Hare airport for the next 30 years until his retirement, having worked his entire career of over 40+ years at United Airlines. Over the years, Greg and the family enjoyed many trips to Maui, California, Florida, Mexico, Arizona, Alaska and Canada.
He loved a cold Spotted Cow, the Hallmark Channel and was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan!
Greg is survived by his devoted wife, Edith of 48 years and children Kimberly (Michael) Smith of Spring Grove, Illinois and Amy (James) Larson of Spring Grove, Illinois. Grandfather of Hunter Smith, Abigail Larson and Nathaniel Larson. He is also survived by brothers Gary (Jean) Kurzynski, John (Julie) Kurzynski and nephew of Evelyn Michalczyk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gloria.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday January 25, 2026 at 1pm at Rusty Nail 4520 Ringwood Rd, Ringwood Illinois 60072.
He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
