Gregory "Meatball" Landry was called home on September 23, 2025 at 4:45am At focus Care Burnet Bay Nursing Home Rehab Center in Baytown Tx.
Gregory was born on September 1, 1961 in New Orleans Louisiana to Audrey Mae Landry Ray and the late James Jones He was raised by Alvin BeeRay at the age of 3.
Gregory accept Christ as his personal Savor at the age of 40, He was Baptized by leader of Hold up the Light Ministry Pastor Royal (Linda) Smith were he serve for 15 years. He moved to Texas in November 2014 and joined The Vision Church under the leadership of Dr. Deryck S. Hunt and served for 5 years. He later moved to Baytown and became a member of Encouragers Church International with Pastor Shannon Frazier (First Lady) Shanel Frazier, where he served until his passing.
Gregory met Phyllis Smith in 1983 and were married in 1989. They had two beautiful kids Shantell Smith who he raised from birth Gregory Charles Smith (Son).
Gregory enjoyed playing basketball, watching football, telling jokes, sitting under the tree chilling and making mess. He also enjoyed playing spades with his friends and cousins. Gregory was loved by all.
He is preceded in death by his step father Alvin Ray; his father James Jones; brother Eric Jones; grandparents Joseph and Beatice Landry, James and Edith Jones; grandmother that raised him Mariah Ray Great Grandparents Alex Jones, and Julia Jones; uncles, Jerry Jones, Ernest Landry, Joesph Landry Junius, Ervin Landry Landry.
Gregory leaves to cherish his memories his mother Audrey Mae Landry Ray, his loving, caring, and praying wife for 42 years Phyllis Smith Landry; one son Gregory C. Smith, one daughter Shantell M. Smith; beautiful Grandchildren who he loved very much Ja'keydric (A'Miah) Smith, Alayisha S. Flowers and Anaiaha G. Flowers; one great grandbaby Se'Vyn Amora Smith; sisters Kimberly Ray and Ersula Michelle Jones; three brothers sedrick (Charlotte) Jones, Carlton (Michelle) Jones, and Calvin Edwards. A best friend Byron Walker and best cousin Byron Jones-Devote; cousin Wendry Pierre; brother-in- law Felton Leroy (Valerie) Smith; four sisters-in-laws Joahn (Eric) Griffin, Glenda (Charles) Edward, Gladys, Gloria (Wonell) Collins, and a host of aunts, neices, nephews, relative and friends.
