Gregory "Mac" Boyd McCall, 79, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, surrounded by family.

Mac was born in Carwile, Kentucky, to the late Gilby H. McCall and Carol McCall Vandegrift. He was also predeceased by his stepfather, John Vandegrift. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret “Peggy” McCall; his sons, Brad McCall (Mary Beth) and Jeff McCall (Carrie); and his grandchildren, Brooke, Grace, Ellis, Landry, Anna Bradley, and Boyd, all of whom brought him great pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Diana Wallace and Melinda Howe.

Mac attended Carson-Newman College, where he was co-captain of the football team, a sign of the lifelong love of sports that would define much of his life. He began his career as a football and wrestling coach at Morristown East High School, then Gibbs High School. He later transitioned into the business world and eventually became Vice President at RR Donnelley (formerly Meredith Burda) in Lynchburg, Virginia.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Mac enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and cheering on his favorite teams every Saturday. He coached Little League for years and found deep joy in watching his sons and grandchildren play sports. His love for family was unwavering. They were truly the center of his life.

Mac will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a coach and mentor to many.

The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
