Gregory Moller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 14, 2021.
14 May 2021, Gregory Scott Moller, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 61, surrounded by family and friends, in Gainesville, Virginia after battling a rare cancer for several years. Greg was born on 3 November 1959, in Suffern, New York to Robert G. and Janet A. (Fleming) Moller. He graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a political-science degree and friends he would have for life. He married Marypatricia O'Brien of West Nyack, New York on 30 April 1988. They raised two children Kyle and Erin. Throughout his professional career, he held numerous customer facing positions. His twenty-year career with Avis Rental Car started at Dulles Airport as a rental agent, he was promoted to Fleet Distribution Manager in Alexandria, Virginia and later transferred to Greenville Spartanburg as the City Manager then returned to Virginia as Avis' Dulles Airport District Manager. After Avis, he worked at CARMAX as an Operations Manager, and he ended his career as a Field Consultant for 7-Eleven. Serving and doing the right thing for his "people" came naturally to Greg. Greg had varied interests which he shared with his friends and family: running, International Motor Sports Association (IMSA car racing), trivia, photography, bird watching, collecting beer cans and music. As the Sultan of Segue, no occasion went by without the creation of a mix CD. His passion for music influenced many of his friends and family as he frequently used his daughter Erin's Spotify account to make playlists. He was known for his dry humor and his bright blues eyes. Greg is preceded in death by his father, Robert and his brother, Kenneth J. Greg is survived by his wife, Marypatricia O'Brien Moller of Gainesville, Virginia, his children, Kyle Christopher Moller and his fiancé, Haley Callahan of Fairfax, Virginia and Erin O'Brien Moller of Manassas, Virginia, his mother, Janet A. Moller of Morristown, New York, and his sister Nancy Moller Avery (husband John) of Fairport, New York, nieces, nephews and many "aunts, uncles and cousins". A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, 5 June, 2pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8213 Linton Hall Road, Gainesville, VA and a celebration of Greg's life will be held at Windy Knoll Farm, 11602 Kettle Run Road, Nokesville, VA, at 4pm. The family of Greg Moller wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Jey Maran and Capital Caring Health Hospice.

I knew him only as a wonderful father of a brilliant daughter, and a man who appreciated life, fun, and family. Not a bad legacy to leave. May I do as well.

On the soccer field I could never remember Greg's name and to which kid he belonged, so I referred to Greg has GQ because he was so handsome and very well dressed for soccer practice! Later I was privileged to know Greg and Marypat and become friends. Of course now I wished we had seen each other much more over the years, as we do in these time. May God bless you Greg, and may God hold your family and dear friends up in their grief.

To Greg's family: I am so very sorry to hear of Greg's passing. I've known Greg since we were classmates at South. As a teenager, Greg was a great friend and listener and was loyal and steadfast. He had that dry sense of humor back then too. He was a kind and compassionate human being. Though we lost touch for many years, it sounds like he retained all of these qualities as a man too. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your terrible loss of a great guy.
