Gregory B. Pyott of Cocoa, FL, musician, 73, played his last note on October 22 with his wife of 43 years, Lyn, at his side. He is also survived by his mother Betty Pyott, Rockledge, FL; sister Tammy (Ron) Voss, Okemos, MI; brother Brad Pyott, Holt, MI; sister-in-law Kathy Rabbitt, Muskegon, MI; and the Voss, Johnson and Rabbitt nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Pyott; in-laws William & Alice Youngs; and sister-in-law Tracey Williams.
Greg's great passion was music. He first played electric bass professionally in his hometown, Battle Creek, MI, and later in surrounding states. After moving to the Cocoa area in 1983, he played electric bass and rhythm guitar in central and south Florida. He was also employed for many years as an insulator. As a lifelong space enthusiast, he valued a brief stint of employment as a laborer at Kennedy Space Center in the mid-80s; it was a rare launch he missed viewing right up until his death. In later life, he fashioned canes and walking sticks as a very non-lucrative side gig, since his specialty was giving them away to anyone who appeared to be in need.
Greg was a true original. He lived life with great gusto and a reverence for all living things - plants, animals and people. His openness, enthusiasm and curiosity about everything drew people to him, and he was a loyal friend to many. His kindness, generosity, intelligence and humor were ever on display.
No service is planned at this time. You can honor Greg by nurturing a living thing – a plant, animal, neighbor, or a stranger in need.
