Gregory Andrew Scarmack, 66, of Sharon, passed away peacefully after an extended illness into the
waiting arms of Jesus on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, in Jameson Care Center, New Castle, surrounded by
family.
Greg was born on August 2, 1958, in Sharon, a son of Eugene N. and Helen M. "Tootsie" (O'Korn)
Scarmack.
He was a 1976 graduate of Farrell High School where he was a member of the volleyball team.
He was an outstanding baseball player with the Farrell Little League and played through the Farrell Senior
Division. A sports enthusiast, Greg could be seen at any sporting event in the Shenango Valley. He loved
all Farrell sports and was proud to be a member of the "Chain Gang" for the Steelers football games for
over 20 years. He cherished the football signed by the coaches and team recently. He was a fan of the
Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
Greg married Estella Speizer on Sept. 10, 1994. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2018.
He and Stella loved to take rides on his motorcycle.
Greg retired from Sharon Tube in 2017 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of
Columbus, Council 4003, Farrell, the Italian Social Club, the Slovenian Workingmen's Educational Club,
and the SNPJ.
Greg was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, and was a proud member of the Choir. He
would sing hymns to his caregivers who enjoyed his beautiful voice.
He is survived by his sisters Gina (Bob) Fromm, Transfer, Geri (David) Warchol, Hermitage, and Gayle
(David) Orrico, New Castle, who took exceptional care of Greg during his illness. Survivors also include
nieces and nephews, Gianna Orrico; Bob (Danielle) Fromm and their children Angelo, Amelia and
Nicholas; Jennifer (Eric) Mausser and their children Addison and Liliana; Jason (Andria) Fromm and their
children August and Georgia; Gerard Scarmack; Sean (Breanna) Scarmack; Cassandra Scarmack (Tom
Berkinyi) and their children Isabella and Jackson; several relatives; and close friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, Gerard A. Scarmack; an infant brother,
Gary Scarmack; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Mary O'Korn; paternal grandparents, Andrew and
Angeline Scarmack, and many loving relatives.
Greg enjoyed conversations and always showed kindness. He would help anyone in need. The family
would like to thank Dr. Jerzy Magda and the staffs at Jameson Care Center and Anova Hospice who took
exceptional care of him.
When family and friends would visit Greg during his illness, they always left with a "thank you for coming"
and a "fist bump" from Greg. Now he has given his final "fist bump" to Jesus upon entering his Heavenly
home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121.
