Lifelong Chinook resident Gregory Scott Swenson, 76, passed away July 1, 2024, at home. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 7, at 1pm at Kuper Memorial Cemetery near Chinook.
Greg was born May 29, 1948, in Havre, Montana to Gladys and George Swenson. He graduated from Chinook High School. Greg served in the US Army from February 1968 to October 1970 and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal after two tours of duty in Vietnam. He began working at the US Postal Service and retired after a 30-year career there.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Greg was married to Mary McSloy who passed away March 2021. During their marriage they traveled to six continents and shared countless experiences.
In retirement, Greg's goal was to go fishing year 'round. And he achieved that goal for many years! Greg loved a good time and was truly a kid at heart.
He is survived by his sister, Gayle Fisher, of Great Falls, aunt Donna Dobson, stepchildren Carol Kline, Cindy Dennis, Brad and Brian Brough, and Martin Guardipee, niece Becky Fisher Timmons (Aaron, Madeleine, Elliot), and nephew Scott Fisher (Stacey, Otis).

Greggy as we called him, helped me make my of chose of Field Artillery (REDLEG) in the Army for which I thank him greatly. The many stories he told of his time in Vietnam were inspirational. He will be missed greatly.
