Gregory James True

READFIELD - Greg True, 49 years young, died Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Maine Medical Center in Portland due to complications following a brief illness.
Greg was born in Augusta on February 17, 1972, the son of James and Linda (Libby) True.
Greg was educated in Winthrop schools, and with a perfect attendance record he graduated from Winthrop High School, where he played football and tennis for the Ramblers. He received his Automotive Degree from Central Maine Technical College and later earned his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology from the University of Southern Maine.
Greg was a hard, loyal worker his entire life. During high school, he worked at Mr. Market and after graduation was employed by D.L. Fleury's Sporting Goods, which eventually became Points North Outfitters, all of which were in Winthrop. He later worked for Charlie's Motor Mall until 1997, then became the parts manager at Power Equipment Plus in Sidney where he remained until his illness.
Greg loved classic rock and was singer and drummer for the band, "Grand Orange." Some of his favorite artists/bands were Boston, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, and Robert Plant, to name only a few of many. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Boston Bruins, a love his family inherited. He was passionate for both watching and playing hockey, as he was part of several men's leagues throughout his adulthood. He enjoyed watching not only just hockey but all sports. He loved supporting his children play soccer and track and field, and rarely missed any games or events.
Greg had a true love and appreciation for the outdoors. He loved spending his free time animal watching, with a special affinity for bird watching; some favorites included cardinals and finches. Most of his life he favored beer as his favorite adult beverage, but recently took it upon himself to become especially educated about all types of whiskey. His children, many friends and family, and all who loved Greg will truly miss him.
Greg was known by all for being a man of endless qualities. He was always able to carry on a conversation about any topic with anyone, whether he was partial to the subject or not. While he wouldn't consider himself a man of the people, there was nobody better suited for it. His drive and interest for learning about all aspects of life allowed him to be educated well past his days of school. This knowledge led him to become what his family may consider him a trivia master, although his humbleness would never allow him to admit any sort of achievement, small or large. Despite the diversity others recognized in him, Greg loved to lead a simple, tranquil life in which all he needed was good family, friends, and hobbies for happiness. His devotion to the things and people he loved most was always evident, and could be seen through the generosity and love he constantly gave without ever asking anything in return. His love was a special kind, one that is not found often. These countless qualities are the reason why he will be loved and remembered by all forever.
Greg was predeceased by his mother Linda, and leaves behind his father James of Winthrop; his son Alexander True and girlfriend Heather Kelsey of Bangor and his daughter Katherine True and the mother of his children, life-long friend Michelle Fleury-True, both of Sidney; his best companion and forever love of 10 years, Theresa Edgecomb of Readfield, and Theresa's daughter, Brooke Hanna and husband Josh and their daughter Elise, whom Greg considered his granddaughter (he was considered "Grand Poopa" by Elise), all of Belgrade; his brother Kevin True and his niece Sara True, both of Winthrop.
