Malone- Gregory Phillip Vassar, 76, formerly of West Chazy and more recently of Marion St. Malone, passed away on September 29, 2025, with his daughter by his side.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 3, 1949 the son of Maynard and Ada (Paro) Vassar.

Gregory was a graduate of Chazy Central Rural School and attended Clinton Community College. He was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1971 to 1975. Gregory was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and in his spare time enjoyed fishing and boating.

He retired from Ray Brook Federal Correctional Institution, North Elba, NY.

Survivors include his wife Vicki (Tomkiewicz) Vassar and her son Evan Tomkiewicz; his son Shannon Vassar; his daughter Morgan Elizabeth (Vassar) Kostyk and her husband Kyle, their daughter Elliot Cassandra Kostyk; his sister Gretchen (Vassar) LaDue and husband Orville, their daughters, Heather (LaDue) Trombly, Kathy LaDue; Sister-in-law Norma Vassar and her children Gerald Vassar, Shelly (Vassar) Beeman and Travis Vassar.

Gregory was predeceased by his parents, brother Daniel Vassar, first wife Nancy (Deatrick) Vassar and step-daughter Cassandra J. Tomkiewicz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will follow in West Chazy Rural Cemetery.
