Gregory Neil Wooldridge December 28, 1957 – February 16, 2024
Gregory Neil Wooldridge "Greg", passed away February 16, 2024 from a long battle with lung issues. Greg was born on December 28, 1957 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Richard Neil Wooldridge and Patricia Louise Wooldridge. At the time of his death he was 66 years young. He leaves behind his wife, Donna Wooldridge of Rowlett, a brother, David Wooldridge and family of Rowlett, and a sister, Stacey Wooldridge Hatten and family of Fate.
Greg graduated high school in 1975 from Garland High School, Garland, Texas. From there he went to Richland College in Dallas for 2 years. He then went to the University of North Texas in Denton from 1977 thru 1979. He was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha where he met many life long friends. Greg was always the life of the party wherever he went and loved taking pictures to capture the moments of life and all the great memories with friends and family.
In 1983 Greg went on a motorcycle trip with friends that would change his life forever. He wrecked the motorcycle he was on and became a quadriplegic for 40 years. Even though this would have made most people bitter, Greg was different. He still loved life. He never met a stranger, loved music, traveling, casinos, parties, concerts and all his life he had such a beautiful attitude that everyone who knew him loved him.
After rehab, Greg went back to college for computer programming. He went to work for E-Systems where he made more friends and worked for 26 years. During that time in 1995, he met his future wife, Donna, while having his van modified for him to drive at Wright-Way, Inc. They were married April 24, 1999, just short of 25 years.
Greg started struggling with his health and lung issues about a year ago. He had surgery October 10, 2023. After several months of hospital stays, unfortunately 40 years of being a quad finally caught up with him and his body couldn't do what his mind wanted it to do. He passed away on February 16, 2024. Family and friends take comfort in knowing he is up in heaven reunited with his Dad and Mom and many others who have gone on before him, running, laughing, no wheelchair, having a wonderful time with those he loves, making new friends, waiting for all of us to join him. There will never be anyone quite like him. He was such an exceptional person. He will truly be missed.
There will be a Celebration of Greg's Life on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm at the Rowlett Community Center located behind Rowlett High School on George Bush Freeway off Main Street in Rowlett. 5300 Main St., Rowlett, Tx. 75088. 972/412-6170. If you plan on attending, please bring any photos you would like to bring of Greg and all stories you are willing to tell of your adventures with him. Please R.S.V.P. to David at 214/499-1359 or Stacey at 214/282-9290. Thank you.
