Greta Garbo Webb McCune, 85, has peacefully passed on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at her residence in Staunton. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend.
She was born on June 16, 1938, in Bath County to the late Harris "Press" Preston Webb Sr. and Millie "Delphie" Delphia Marcum Webb McNeal.
Greta attended the Dunsmore School of Business in Staunton, Virginia. She dedicated thirty years of her life to serving others as a psychiatric aide at a state hospital before retiring. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on all those she cared for throughout her career.
In her free time, Greta found joy in playing the guitar and sharing her passion for music with those around her. Her talents and love for music brought happiness to many.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Harris "Buddy" Preston Webb, Jr.; her sisters, Helen Mae Webb McCune, Rhoda Frances Webb, and Marie Webb Cappelletty Hartley; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Miller.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Willie Lanier McCune, who stood by her side for sixty-five years. She is also survived by her daughters, Dawn Miller and Rhonda McCready and her husband, Stephen; her sister, Janet Grey Webb Williams; and her grandchildren, Nathaniel McCready, and Aaron McCready and his wife Michelle.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Friends are welcome to bring musical instruments to share songs and celebration.
Interment will be private at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (c/o Augusta Health Foundation P.O. Box 1000 Fishersville, VA 22939).
