Greysan Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nelson Funeral Home - Yorkville on Dec. 8, 2025.
Beloved son, brother, and friend, Greysan Michael Smith, age 27 of Bensenville, IL passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 4, 2025. He was born on March 26, 1998 in Aurora, IL the son of Stephen and Sherry (Myers) Smith.
Greysan was a man of many passions. He had a love for attending concerts and raves, something he did with friends and family for most of his life. He was a collector of Pokémon cards, with Pokémon Lucario as his favorite of them all. He was undeniably charming and witty. Greysan could always find a joke to share and won many accolades with his charismatic personality.
Greysan was passionate about helping other people. He graduated from Illinois State University in 2019, where he studied mental health and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. Greysan's drive to help others extended into his work as a pharmacy technician, where he worked in the oncology department. His empathy and kindness will be greatly missed.
Greysan is survived by his father, Stephen (Kimberly) Smith of Nacogdoches, TX and his mother, Sherry (Dean) Shaw of Yorkville, IL; his siblings, Tyler (Lacey) Smith of Spokane, WA, and McKenzy Smith of Marseilles, IL; his paternal grandmother, Sharon McBride of Nacogdoches, TX; his step-grandparents, Scott and Kathy Shaw of Oswego, IL; aunt and uncle, Angie and Terry Drew of Leland, IL; his best friend, Megahn Webber of Bensenville, IL; and also his many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gary Myers and Dolly Edens; his paternal grandfather, Jon McBride; and his uncle, Tommy Lanham.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 with details to come at a later date.
We ask that instead of flowers, in honor of Greysan, donations be made to Hope for a Day, a non-profit movement focused on elevating the conversation around suicide awareness and prevention. Donations can be made on their website at www.hftd.org
