Grover Gene Marrow, a lifelong resident of Newport News, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on November 19, 1951 in Newport News, Grover was the beloved son of the late Peachy Marrow Jr. and Geraldine Holmes Marrow.

Grover was a man of many talents and interests. He owned and operated a successful painting business, where he was known for his exceptional skill in making colors pop. His passion for painting extended beyond his work. Grover spent many of his young years in New York where he attended high school and excelled in his career.

An avid bowler, Grover played in a local league, where he enjoyed both the competition and camaraderie. He also cherished the tranquility of fishing, often spending peaceful hours by the water. A devoted fan of NASCAR, Grover could frequently be found watching races on television, enjoying the thrill of watching the crashes.

Grover had a unique fondness for elephants, collecting them in various forms throughout his life. Much like the creatures he admired, Grover was known for his remarkable memory, recalling details and stories with ease.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Laura Marrow; his sons, Shannon and Michael Marrow; and his cherished grandson, Kamanie Marrow. Grover's family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

A service to honor and celebrate Grover's life will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home Denbigh Chapel, located at 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA 23608.

Grover Gene Marrow will be remembered for his warmth, his love for his family, and his vibrant spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
