Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Guadalupe Jackson.
"In July of 1934, Elizabeth and Joe Mendoza had their 12th child born in the Stiggers-Mendoza family. It was a happy, close family. It remained that way all these years. There was stability and trust. A lot of folks had large families during that period. We all had different dreams and attitudes. I had some sisters who were much older, also brothers. 3 were in college and some in high school. My mother was 47 when I was born 8th of July. Lillian at age of 2 had polio. She never walked again. Lil never complained, she had a very Godly positive attitude. She led and taught us all about God. The others taught us younger ones about school, cooking, working, playing the piano, so many good things we needed and would need in the future. Since daddy worked for the B&O railroad it always gave us a chance to travel. We did every summer until I was 14 years of age. I had a rounded education from family and school. I loved school, you had an opportunity to meet other people and how they lived. I met wonderful children that were nice. In the end, all our lives were very similar. I kept 1 child in my mind always and even now. Connie (Fikes) Marsh. We don't see each other every day or month or year. But we know we're in each other's heart!
As for Connie, God gave me this special person at age 6 years when we started school. Now I am 79 and God has given me two good friends, two special friends about 20 years ago, John and Marcella Campbell. I had to finish school. So in 1990, I completed North High Evening School 5-30-1990. I want everyone to know God loved and sheltered me and those I hold so dear."
