Guadalupe Teresa Oaxaca Nerey, lovingly known as Terry, was born on November 19, 1939, in Morenci, Arizona, to Heraclio and Louisa Oaxaca. She was the sixth of nine children and grew up alongside her siblings Junior, Rudy, Alice, Frank, Richard, Angie, James and Irene. Her family later moved to Los Angeles, California, where she attended Queen of Angels Catholic High School. In 1961, Terry married the love of her life, Tiburcio Urias Nerey, and together they built a home and raised their five children-Vincent, Carlos, Patrick, Edward, and Susan-in La Puente, California. Terry was an active and devoted mother, involved in PTA, Little League, and Marching Band Boosters. She and Tiburcio cherished family time, often traveling and camping with their children. Many weekends were spent in the San Gabriel Mountains fishing, panning for gold, and playing in the snow. She had a gift for creativity and hospitality, taking cake decorating and flower arranging classes, and she was well known for her baking. Terry later pursued a career in nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse and working with compassion and dedication in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Queen of the Valley Hospital. She and Tiburcio also shared a love of travel, making treasured memories on two trips through Europe while visiting their son Carlos, who was stationed in Holland. Above all, Terry's greatest joy was her family. She was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren-Monique, Anthony, Jessica, Steven, Victoria, Yvonne, Rosemarie, Patrick Jr., Eddie, Valerie, and Jazmin-and eleven great-grandchildren-Maddux, Maverick, Uneek, Destineey, Gianna, Tayla, Krystal, Kayla, Kristina, Brooklyn, and Fernando. Terry will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her kindness, and her loving spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in all who knew her.
