Obituary of Guy Bonasoro
Guy Bonasoro, a long-time resident of Burlington, MA, a retired machinist mechanic with BASF, a loving husband and beloved father, passed away on October 28, 2023 at the age of 86. Guy was born to his parents Charles and Concetta Bonasoro in Boston, MA. Guy's parents emigrated from Italy and had made their home in the North End of Boston, where Guy grew up. After high school, Guy joined the workforce. Guy learned as he went, and BASF eventually sent him off for further education and he was promoted to Supervisor.
When Guy was a young man, he and his friends found themselves out at a dance in Somerville, where Ms. Helen O'Connell caught his eye. The two hit it off and began seeing each other. They dated and were married in 1957. They lived in Somerville for 16 years where they began to raise their family, before eventually settling in Burlington, MA in 1973.
When Guy's children picture him, he's happily sitting in his living room in his favorite recliner with his dog Harry, watching Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune on the TV. Guy also loved watching all of the New England Sports teams. Whether it was the Pats, Sox, Celtics or Bruins, there was a good chance Guy was watching. In the off-season, Guy enjoyed watching old Western movies, and America's Funniest Home Videos.
Guy believed that food and drink brought people together. He was always whipping up one of his favorite recipes in the kitchen. Being the son of Italian immigrants, he learned to cook from the best. He loved to cook for his family and in his younger years, he always grew a large garden in the backyard. As he grew older, you would still find him tending to a tomato or basil plant. Guy had a fantastic recipe for stuffed peppers and homemade pizza, but everything he made was delicious. When he wasn't the one cooking, he loved to go out to eat. He was a big fan of seafood, and enjoyed going up to Gloucester to eat the fresh catch at The Causeway. Guy also enjoyed going over to Total Wine in Burlington and perusing the selection of Italian wines available, and bringing some home to share. His family fondly remembers how he would mix wine with "Orangeade" and offer it to everyone at dinnertime.
Guy was the loving husband of Helen Bonasoro of Burlington, MA. He was the beloved father of Karen Conners and her husband Ronald of Woburn, MA, Gary Bonasoro and his wife Jacqueline of North Andover, MA, and Jill Blood of Ashby, MA. Guy was the proud grandfather of Nicole, Ronnie, Leia, Shawn, Kalissa, and Samantha. He was the treasured Great-Grandfather of Skylar, Cadence, Jace and Milo. Guy was the dear brother of Anna DeBonis, and his late siblings, Frederick Bonasoro, Delia Castriano, and Phyllis Bonasoro.
Funeral services for Guy will be private.
