Obituary of Robert Francis Russell
Robert "Bob" F. Russell, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Burlington on October 8, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Boston, MA on February 24, 1952, he was a dear son of the late Harold F. and Margaret (Ewing) Russell. Robert was raised in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1970.
As a young man, Bob enjoyed freshwater fishing with his cousin Paul, and developed lifelong passions for bowling, fishing, and building model cars. He was an active member of both bowling and fishing leagues from an early age and cherished the camaraderie that came with them. Following his education, Bob went on to work as a Short Haul Truck Driver/Warehouse Manager at K&H Contractors in Braintree for many years. He then went on to work as a Warehouse Manager for Allen Construction, Inc in Burlington, where he retired from in 2012.
In time, Bob settled down and built a beautiful life with his beloved late wife, Maryann, with whom he shared many wonderful years. Together they raised their daughters in a home filled with love, laughter, and unending support. Ever surrounded by the strong women in his life-his wife, daughters, and sisters-Bob took great pride in their independence, resilience, and kind hearts.
As a devoted and loving father, Bob raised his girls with quick, sarcastic humor, and unconditional love. He delighted in imparting his wisdom, teaching them important life skills, and just being together in general. He often would take them to air shows at the Hanscom Air Force Base and relished any and all special moments he had with them. When Bob became a grandfather, his loving nature increased tenfold. He looked forward to being a positive influence in their lives, the same way he had been in his daughters.
In his later years, Bob enjoyed spending time at car shows, especially those featuring his favorite, Thunderbirds and Mustangs. He also loved watching baseball and New England sports-especially the Red Sox and Patriots-and was an excellent horseshoe and cribbage player who always looked forward to a friendly game among friends. To his core, Bob was a loving, devoted, and fun-loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He will always be remembered for his humor, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts and kind acts of all who knew him.
Surviving Bob is his dear wife, Patricia Russell of Burlington; his loving daughters, Sheri DuPont and her husband Ryan of Bristol, CT, Haley Roberts and her husband Sean of Woburn, MA, Tracey Erskine of Melrose, MA, Melissa Russell of
Burlington, MA, and Ashley Russell of NC; his cherished grandchildren, Gabrielle Russell, Daisy Kadlik, Emmett Peck, Sebastian Erskine, Guinevere Erskine, Ashlyn DuPont, Olivia Baker, and the late Rose Russell; his great-grandson, Jamison Kalik; his siblings, Pat Fleury and her late husband Philip of Myrtle Beach, SC, Peggy Marrocco and her husband Fred of Merrimack, NH, Mary Garvin of Lowell, MA, Libby Young of Iron Station, NC, and the late Peter Russell; his late siblings-in-law, Francis Cummings, Maureen Bennett and Barbara Cummings, as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, October 15th from 10:00am until 12:00pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 12:00pm. Burial will immediately follow in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
