Guy Edwin Hancock, from Mesquite, Texas, passed away to be with the Lord on December 16, 2024, at the age of 65. He was born on May 2, 1959, in Greenville, Texas.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Jimelle Rodgers Hancock of Mesquite; along with his daughter, Olivia Thompson and husband, Jeff, of Plano, Texas; and his son, Ben Hancock of Mesquite. Guy is also survived by his parents, Hugh Hancock of Mesquite and Carolyn Ray Hancock of Victoria, Texas; his brother, Jeff Hancock and wife Kimberly of Mesquite; his sister, Melanie Steed and husband Robert of Victoria, Texas; and his sister, Angela Bolen and husband Troy of Austin, Texas; as well as several nephews, nieces, and one grandson.
Guy recently retired as an Inventory Control Manager with Genuine Parts Company after a career of more than 30 years. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from East Texas State University in 1982 and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of North Texas in 1990.
Beyond his professional life, Guy had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed hiking,often spending time outdoors appreciating God's creation. He also had a love for music and could be found each Sunday playing guitar in the church band. He was an active member of The Crossing Baptist Church in Mesquite and enjoyed reading and discussing God's Word. More than anything else, Guy loved spending time with his family. He particularly treasured the moments he shared with his only grandson, Tripp.
Visitation will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyvale, Texas on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at The Crossing Baptist Church in Mesquite on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at New Hope Memorial Gardens.
Guy will be deeply missed by all who loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the missions offering at The Crossing Baptist Church, 1060 Clay Mathis Rd., Mesquite, TX 75181
