Guy Elliott Lowe Jr

Guy Elliott Lowe Jr. age
71, of Toccoa, Ga., entered
into rest Jan. 5, 2024 at
Northeast Georgia Medi-
cal Center with family sur-
rounded by his side.
Guy was born in Al-
bany, Ga., on April 13, 1952
to the late Guy E. Lowe Sr.
and Elizabeth Lowe. In ad-
dition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by
his brother, Thomas Lowe.
Guy was a 1970 gradu-
ate of Toccoa High School,
continuing his education
at Georgia Tech graduat-
ing with a mechanical en-
gineering degree in 1975.
He was employed and re-
tired with Coats and Clark
(Coats America), later
working with Sterling En-
gineering which subcon-
tracted with Lockhead
Martin (Dobbins Air Force
Base). He was a faithful
member of Toccoa Creek
Baptist Church, where he
was a deacon and an ac-
tive member of The
Gideon International. He
thoroughly enjoyed substi-
tute teaching for Stephens
County School Systems
where students called him
Mr. Guy. He loved spend-
ing time with family,
camping trips at Yogi
Bear, fishing, hunting, be-
ing a connoisseur of
firearms, going to Wal-
mart and eating at Bells.
He is survived by his
wife of 49 years, Janice
Scott Lowe; daughters,
Amy Kimsey and Beth
Lowe; grandchildren, Ma-
son Kimsey, Mallorie
Lowe and Landon Kimsey;
sisters-in-law, Jeannie
Moore (Kelly) and Renita
Powell (Jerry D); brothers-
in-law, Mark Scott (Joni)
and Donnie Holland; a
number of nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were
held on Wednesday, Jan.
10, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Toccoa
Creek Baptist Church with
the Rev. Joey Whitlock
and the Rev. Jerrell Beatty
officiating. The following
gentlemen served as pall-
bearers; Mason Kimsey,
Landon Kimsey, Cayden
Maxwell, Reid Gaddis,
Dennis Breedlove, Mark
Scott, Ty Lowe and Scott
Cheek. Honorary pallbear-
ers were Keith Cheek,
Mike Howard and Daniel
Kimsey.
The family received
friends at the Acree-Davis
Funeral Home on Tuesday
from 6-8 p.m. and on
Wednesday from 1:30-2:30
p.m.
