Gwen A. Fava, age 62, of Pittsgrove, NJ, passed away in her home in Middletown, DE, on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Born in Elmer, New Jersey, on September 20, 1962, she was a daughter of the late Edson and Elaine (Wilbur) Creamer. She was a graduate of Arthur P. Schalick High School in 1980 and completed her Associates Degree in Nursing at Cumberland County College in 1982. She spent the first half of her nursing career in maternity at Newcomb Hospital and the second primarily in dialysis working at DCA, both in Vineland, before officially retiring in 2012. She was extremely proud of all the certifications she'd earned along the way and was still the person her son called for advice with any medical issue, no matter the time of day.
More than anything in the world, she loved her family and friends. She loved and prayed to Jesus and treasured her faith in God. She loved music from every era, from The Rolling Stones and Barry Manilow to Alanis Morissette, all the way to BTS. She loved family trips to the movies and different restaurants (especially the Franklinville and Centerton Inns, and sometimes Pizza Hut). She loved cooking for people-something she did amazingly well while also working full-time, buying every grocery and taking care of every bit of housework. She loved being a "room mom" at school and bringing in gift bags and homemade desserts. She saw every holiday as an excuse to buy presents for people and she wrapped each one with unbelievable artistry and care. She loved her collection of Christmas decorations and family heirlooms, and she called them her treasures. She loved her parents, her Nanny and Pop, and her siblings. She loved her nephew, Anthony, like a son, and his family like her own. She deeply loved her late husband, Paul, and was a loyal, devoted wife to him for nearly 24 years. She loved her son, Phillip, and truly protected and supported him for his entire life, and she was the best mom that anyone has ever or will ever deserve. And she loved every animal that ever came into her life, and she'd want them named: Nala, Charlie, Angelo, Angela, Kittyboy, Jersey, Eleanor, Peaches, Mama, Rascal, and Tiny.
In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul James Fava; and her siblings, Lori DiGregorio, Darren Creamer, and Edson Creamer. She is survived by her son, Phillip Fava; her nephew, Anthony DiGregorio, and his wife, Melissa DiGregorio, and their children, Adrianna, Rian, Blaise and Jayce.
A gathering to celebrate Gwen's life will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 2 pm – 5 pm at the Franklinville VFW, 2179 Delsea Dr. Franklinville, NJ 08322.
A graveside service will begin at 11 am on Monday, March 10, 2025, in Union Grove United Methodist Cemetery, 488 Almond Road, Pittsgrove, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gwen's memory to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes to help offset funeral expenses. Please make checks payable to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes and mail to 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720, or call (302) 328-2213.
