Gwen Harton

Gwendolyn Jean Harton passed gently into the hands of God at her home in Choctaw, Oklahoma on Thursday, April 6, 2023. She was surrounded by her family, who filled the room with love, tears and a little laughter. Gwen would have wanted it that way.
Gwen was born November 5, 1946, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Gwen graduated from Choctaw High School in 1964. She lived most of her life in the Choctaw area except for short stays in various duty stations while her husband Daniel was in the Air Force.
Gwen loved these things, in pretty much this order: family, THE University of Oklahoma sports, travel, and her work at the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, where she worked up until shortly before her passing.
Loved ones that will greet her in Heaven are her father and mother, Archie Vernon and Geneva Mae (Ferguson) Mitchell along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those whose arrival in Heaven she will be awaiting include her husband, Daniel Harton of the home; her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Stratton Weatherly of Choctaw; her oldest daughter and son-in-law, Paige and John Bearden of Miami, Oklahoma; her youngest daughter, Megan Harton of Oklahoma City; and her grandchildren, Lindsey, Jonas and Eli Bearden, all of Miami, Oklahoma; a niece and her husband, Tracy and Jeff Cramer; and a nephew and his wife, Joe and Jenny Weatherly all of Choctaw. A host of cousins, great nieces, great nephews and close friends will also be reunited with her on some glad day.
Gwen's memorial service will be Wednesday, April 12th at 2pm.
