AHOSKIE, NC - Gwen Elaine Schultz, aged 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina. Born on May 18, 1963, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Gwen spent much of her life in the town where she was born, touching the lives of all who knew her.

Gwen found joy and adventure as a truck driver, traveling to countless destinations and experiencing the vast beauty of the world. Her spirit of exploration was matched by her deep love for animals, her passion for crafting, and her devotion to tending her beloved plants.

Her love for her family was boundless. She cared deeply for her spouse, Donald Nealey, whom she loved unconditionally, and held her son, Vere' Schultz, his wife Meghan, and her four grandsons-Wyatt Pope, Charlie Schultz, Jaxson Schultz, and Beckett Schultz-dear to her heart. She is also survived by her brother George Schultz and his wife Debbie of Portsmouth, Virginia. Gwen's kindness, compassion, and warm-hearted nature will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

Gwen was preceded in death by her mother, Lora Kathleen Bray Ackiss, whose memory she cherished throughout her life.

While formal services will not take place at this time, friends and family will gather at a later date to celebrate Gwen's extraordinary life and the joy she brought to those around her.
