It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn B. Fender, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, who departed this life peacefully at her home in Disputanta, Virginia.
Born on September 14, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Concetta Chiarello Vohun and Thomas Albert Vohun, Gwendolyn was a proud graduate of Prince George High School and a dedicated public servant. She faithfully served in the Federal Government as a civil servant for over 25 years, where her professionalism and commitment left a lasting impact.
Gwendolyn's greatest joys in life were her family and her flower garden, where she found beauty and peace in nature's quiet rhythms. Her warmth, quiet strength, and steadfast love were the cornerstones of her character.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Thomas (Torch) Vohun, Jr.; her daughter, Janet Robinson; and her son, Timothy C. Fender.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
Her loving sisters, Dian Wilcox (Jimmy) and Jeannette Watko (David)
Her devoted brother, Harold B. Fender, Jr. (Kathy) Along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will remember her with love and gratitude.
A Memorial Service honoring Gwendolyn's life will be held in June 2025, with final arrangements entrusted to Bland Funeral Homes, 137 Harrison Street, Petersburg, Virginia.
May her soul rest in peace and her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
