It is with heavy hearts that we announce Gwendolyn Young Jolin of Buchanan, Virginia passed away on July 19th, 2025 at the age of 65. She was born in Monticello, Arkansas in 1959 and later moved to Buchanan, Virginia in 1992. She would always reminisce fondly about her annual family trips to the Saline River in Arkansas where the girls would help their daddy fish. After graduating high school, she attended Louisiana Tech University where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering. She then worked for many years as a Director of Logistics with Mohawk Industries. She was a beloved member of the community and known to be a fiercely proud mother and grandmother. She loved to play softball, watch football, and travel. Gwendolyn was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She was famous for making friends everywhere she went, and she loved the simple, quiet life of Buchanan’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
Gwendolyn is survived by her two sons, Tyler Jolin and Trent (Taylor) Jolin, her grandson, Raiden, and her two sisters, Debbie (Pat) Henry and Audrey (Jim) Dintelman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gynn R. Young and Ila Jo Young.
A memorial service will be held in Gwendolyn’s honor on Friday, July 25th at Botetourt Funeral Home in Buchanan, Virginia at 7:00 PM. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00-7:00 PM. Pastor Doug Mitchell will be officiating.
