Marcel R. Jolin

Sturbridge: Marcel R. Jolin 79, of Blueberry Lane, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, March 21st, after a brief illness.
He leaves his beloved wife of 58 years, Helga (Noll) Jolin; his two sons, Frank R. Jolin and his wife Jennifer of West Brookfield and Eric P. Jolin and his fiancé Kelly Brown of Brookfield; a daughter, Ursula E. Jolin and her partner, Jeff Gagner; a brother, John Jolin of Sturbridge; a sister, Diane Gagnon and her husband Gerald of Brookfield; seven cherished grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marcel was predeceased by six brothers, Paul Jolin, Francis "Frank" Jolin, Joseph Jolin, Emile Jolin, Phillip Jolin, Eugene Jolin and two sisters, Elizabeth Gaumond and Elaine Cardenas.
Marcel was born in Southbridge, the son of Paul C. and Elizabeth B. (Favreau) Jolin. He grew up on the family farm where he found his passion for farming and love of animals. Marcel enlisted in the United States Army serving honorably in Germany during the Vietnam War Era as a Tank Commander, where he met the love of his life, Helga. Marcel worked for more than 45 years in sheet metal fabrication, retiring from Southbridge Sheet Metal many years ago. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing the wealth of knowledge he received from the hundreds of books that he read. Marcel regularly attended livestock auctions and carried his childhood joy for farming and animals well into adulthood. He shared that passion with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marcel was a true "Jack of all Trades" and could fix anything, always helping out his family and friends with anything they needed. He also enjoyed taking long rides in the car, just to site see, with no destination in mind. Marcel above all was a true gentleman. He was honest, selfless and an amazing husband and father. Marcel held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were his whole world and he cherished and loved them dearly. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
Calling hours for Marcel will be held on Sunday, March 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Funeral services and burial in North Cemetery, Sturbridge will be private.
