Gwendolyn Loretta Digby Montecino

Gwendolyn Loretta Digby Montecino gently passed away Wednesday morning. December 28, 2022, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, La. She was 78 years old. Gwen was the daughter of William Bernard Digby and Ethel Louise Thebault Digby of New Orleans, and granddaughter of Frank William Thebault and Martha Louisa Vollenweider Thebault of New Orleans and Martin James Digby, Sr. and Mary Loretta Keir Digby of New Orleans.

She was predeceased by her four siblings: Beverly D. Bravender, Carolyn D. Hartman, Andrew T. Digby and Dolores "Lori" D. Cefalu; also, sadly, predeceased by grandson Matt Bonomo (Jaymie).

She is survived by her three children: Glenn Montecino (Janessa), Eunice M. Bonomo (Scott) and Michael Montecino (Carla), as well as grandchildren Jennifer, Michelle, Savannah (Jeremy), Caitlin, Dalton, Hunter (Amanda), Cameron and Michael, Jr.

Gwen resided her entire life in the state of Louisiana. She was born in 1944 in New Orleans, where she graduated from Alcee Fortier High School, and lived for many years in St. Bernard Parish until Hurricane Katrina. After Katrina she resided in Bossier Parish and finally in Tangipahoa Parish. She worked for many years at McKenzie's Bakery and Haydel's Bakery, where she was trusted and well-liked among her colleagues. She was a loving and kind mother, "Maw Maw" to her grandchildren and "Aunt Gwennie"' to her many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
